What is the PRIDE Reading Program?
The PRIDE Reading Program is based on scientific research and years of Orton-Gillingham training and teaching experience at PRIDE Learning Center and schools throughout Southern California. PRIDE Learning Center is world renowned for our work with students struggling with their reading and spelling due to common language difficulties such as Dyslexia, Auditory Processing Disorder, Speech and Developmental Delays and other Learning Disabilities.
At PRIDE, we did not invent Orton-Gillingham instruction, but we have put together what we believe is the most effective and user friendly curriculum that for many students, is the only program that will work. We are confident that you will find the program easy to implement and will see amazing results for at risk and students with IEPs. PRIDE was built to make it possible for all students in need to have access to an effective and affordable remediation solution.
- Explicit, teacher-led instruction
- Heavily scripted out and easy to implement Teaching Guide
- No professional development required
- Multisensory

- Affordable and cost effective
How the PRIDE Reading Program Works
PRIDE Reading Program begins with recognition of the letters, the sounds of the letters, and the sounds of letter combinations (phonemes). PRIDE is structured, systematic and cumulative. This means that, like a pyramid, the base must first be strong enough to support the entire structure. After your student receives a strong foundation, they are able to start recognizing words using the skills learned. There are nine-ten different lessons per concept in each of the Introduction, Practice and Reinforcement units. That is twenty seven opportunities to master the skill before moving to the next. Plus, learned concepts are continuously reviewed as you progress forward through the program.
With PRIDE Reading Program you will see improved reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and increased self-confidence. While the program works with all students, it is especially successful for students with dyslexia, auditory and visual processing disorder, speech deficits and other learning differences.
The PRIDE online Teaching Guide is the key to teaching the PRIDE program for Teachers, Classroom Aides or Parent Volunteers. PRIDE’s easy to follow scripted, step-by-step Teaching Guide walks you through which skills to teach, and when and how to teach them. With the PRIDE Reading Program, there is no need for special training or advanced understanding of the spelling and reading rules you are teaching. All you need to do is read the highlighted script of the Teaching Guide aloud to your student and follow the simple directions. Plus, if you ever need help with how a lesson is taught, there are short and easy to understand videos showing the PRIDE method in practice. We recommend 30 to 60 minute lessons to start, but most children advance faster through the PRIDE Reading Program with more intensity.
Why is the PRIDE Reading Program right for students struggling with reading and spelling at school?
- Easy to implement and teach with exceptional results
- No expensive week long training courses to attend and no required professional development.
- Everything you need to teach the PRIDE Reading Program is included in the Student’ Materials. You do not need to supply the Student Materials or manipulatives or reinvest in new materials as they become worn out from use or abuse.
